New stage production of Raymond Briggs' Christmas story, with Howard Blake's score, directed and choreographed by Will Tuckett.
The Snowman opens at the Peacock Theatre on 21 November 2026 and runs through to 3 January 2027. It's a brand new stage version of Raymond Briggs' Christmas story, built from the ground up by a new team rather than a revival of the Birmingham Rep production that Sadler's Wells has brought to London for more than thirty years. The plot is the one you know: a boy builds a snowman, the snowman comes to life and flies him to meet Father Christmas, and by morning he's melted. Howard Blake's score, which includes 'Walking in the Air', carries the story, and the staging draws from Briggs' picture book and the film directed by Dianne Jackson and produced by John Coates.
Will Tuckett directs and choreographs, with production design by Anna Fleischle and puppet design by Tahra Zafar. Tuckett recalls receiving the book from Father Christmas as a child and watching the film on Boxing Day, and speaks of the privilege of bringing Blake's music to new generations. The production also includes video design by Nina Dunn and illusions by Chris Fisher, and inspired the CBBC documentary My Life: The Snowman and Me, now on BBC iPlayer.
