Halloween-themed market with UK book and handmade vendors, a live DJ set, a coffee week and the museum's temporary exhibition 'After the Fire'.
The Dark Emporium returns to the Bank of England Museum on Friday 30 October, a Halloween-themed market that brings together books and handmade wares from vendors across the UK. It's a broad spread: literary apothecaries and graphic novels sit alongside ghoulish stationery and coven magazines, all running to a live DJ set. If you're into the darker side of books and oddities, there's plenty to dig through.
While you're there, you can also see the Museum's temporary exhibition, After the Fire: Insurance, finance and a rebuilt city. It's a life-sized coffee shop and city scene that traces London's financial development after the Great Fire, part of a wider week of programming devoted to coffee — the beverage at the centre of the city's financial activity. The Museum itself is free to visit, and you can pick up free architecture walking tours covering 300 years of the building's history, or curator-led talks about Mrs. Coade's Stone - cast to last, which focuses on the pioneering businesswoman Eleanor Coade and the artificial material she developed.

It's a good day to make of the place, with the market as the main draw and the exhibitions and tours around it. The Dark Emporium runs from 10am to 7.30pm, with last entry at 7pm, and the Museum is free to visit.
