Free one-day street show of pre-1905 vintage cars on a closed stretch of Pall Mall, previewing the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.
The St James's Motoring Spectacle returns to Pall Mall on Saturday 31 October, the Royal Automobile Club's one-day street show staged on a closed stretch of road outside the Club's historic Clubhouse. It's now in its third year, and it runs as part of London Motor Week, the RAC's biggest motoring week of the year. The day also serves as the preview for the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, which sets off the following morning.
The main draw is the St James's Concours, where around 50 veterans compete throughout the day. Around them, you'll find more than 60 unique pre-1905 pioneering vehicles on display — cars that usually only get seen in museums, now out on the street. The owners often turn up in period costume, so it's as much about the people as the machinery. The timeline on display stretches from those Victorian pioneers right through to the supercars of a more sustainable era, and the day also points towards educational pathways and careers in automotive and motorsport.

Last year's edition drew more than 12,000 visitors and more than 150 vehicles, so it's a fair size of an event. It runs from 10am to 3pm on Pall Mall, St James's, London SW1Y 5HS, just outside the Royal Automobile Club's Clubhouse. Entry is free.
