Live shows by soul and funk band The Brand New Heavies at Blue Note's first UK venue in Covent Garden.
The Brand New Heavies are playing Blue Note Jazz Club in London on Sunday 13, Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 December, with shows at 7:00pm and 9:30pm each night. It's a run of six dates in three days, so you've got a few slots to choose from.
The band started when old school friends Jan, Andrew and Simon got together around a near-obsessive love of soul music and '70s funk. Early hits 'Never Stop' and 'Dream Come True' earned them a reputation as a formidable live act, and they found global chart success with their reinterpretations of standards: 'Midnight At The Oasis', Carole King's 'You've Got A Friend' and Stevie Wonder's 'I Don't Know Why (I Love You)'.
They've had several singers front the group over the years. The band first made its mark with N'Dea Davenport, and was later fronted by Siedah Garrett, Carleen Anderson and Sulene Fleming. Core members Simon Bartholomew and Andrew Levy carry the project on, and their 2019 album TBNH features Beverley Knight and Angie Stone.
