Robert Glasper, with special guests Marsha Ambrosius and Common, plays the Blue Note London for the EFG London Jazz Festival.
Robert Glasper is playing a run of dates at Blue Note London from 13 to 22 November, part of the EFG London Jazz Festival. He's a five-time Grammy winner whose work sits between jazz, R&B and hip-hop, and he's not playing these alone: Marsha Ambrosius joins him on 14 and 15 November, and Common takes over as special guest on 20 and 21 November.
If you're not familiar with his name, you've almost certainly heard his work. The Black Radio series helped redefine contemporary jazz and led to collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Erykah Badu, Common, Jill Scott, Kanye West, Mac Miller and Jennifer Hudson. His projects range from acoustic jazz to electronic music and film scoring, and he curates The Black Radio Experience festival alongside an annual residency at Blue Note New York. His most recent releases are In December, Let Go and the Grammy-nominated Code Derivation.
The shows are part of the EFG London Jazz Festival, produced by Serious, which runs across venues throughout London and is known for keeping the city's club culture alive alongside headline concerts at the Barbican, Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall. Glasper's run at Blue Note is one of the festival's central fixtures, with the guest spots adding a different flavour to the different nights.
