High-energy tap dance show by France's RB Dance Company that fuses tap with urban jazz and percussion to tell the story of an actor trapped by a film director.
RB Dance Company are back at the Peacock Theatre on Portugal Street from 17 to 31 October, with Stories - The Tap Dance Sensation returning to London for 20 new performances before it heads off on a UK tour. It's a high-energy tap show that mixes urban jazz and percussion, and it's the same production that played to a sold-out house here back in 2024.
Unlike a lot of tap, this is a narrative show. It follows Icarus, a successful young actor who finds himself trapped under the control of a powerful film director. The story is told through a cast of ten dancers, and the whole thing is built around a dynamic, transformable set by Federica Mugnai, with lighting by Alex Hardellet and costumes by Margaux Ponsard and Janie Loriault. It's a French production from RB Productions, and it's the kind of show that relies as much on the set and the costumes as it does on the dancing.
RB Dance Company was founded in 2018 by artistic director, choreographer and producer Romain Rachline Borgeaud, who set out to revitalise tap dance through ambitious, large-scale narrative productions. The company first hit the world stage when it reached the finals of France's Got Talent in both 2018 and 2024, and Stories has since been seen by more than 300,000 people across Europe. Borgeaud created the show himself, and he's the one who puts the company together and choreographs the work.
