Stopgap Dance Company's inclusive contemporary dance piece 'Lived Fiction', devised with Deaf, Disabled and neurodivergent creatives and winner of One Dance UK 2024.
Stopgap Dance Company bring Lived Fiction to Sadler's Wells East on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 January 2027, with both performances starting at 7:30pm. The show runs for an hour and 45 minutes, including a 15-minute interval, and tickets start from £15.
Lived Fiction is a re-imagining of an original work built around the sensual choreography of wheelchair dancer Nadenh Poan. It was devised and written with the company's Deaf, Disabled, neurodivergent and non-disabled creatives, and the choreography is given new meaning through integrated audio description, projection art and creative captioning, with access and care built into the performance. For these dates, Stopgap is joined by Ryan Dawson Laight and Jackie Shemesh.
It's a piece that's already gathered a fair bit of attention. It won One Dance UK 2024 for Artistic Innovation and was named one of The Guardian's Best Dance of 2024. It's also nominated for the Rose category of The Rose International Dance Prize 2027, which awards £40,000 to the winner.
