Skindred - You Got This Tour

Skindred play Alexandra Palace on Saturday 31 October, as part of their You Got This UK and Ireland tour. It's a Halloween show, and they've brought along Alien Ant Farm and Spineshank to open for them. The whole thing takes place in The Great Hall, so it's a big room for a big night.

Skindred are a Welsh band who pioneered ragga metal, blending heavy rock with reggae, dub and punk, all fronted by Benji Webbe. The You Got This tour is out on Earache Records, and drummer Arya Goggins said the band wanted to do something special to mark the album's release. Having toured with Alien Ant Farm across Europe the previous year, they've brought them back over to the UK to join the party. Spineshank makes three on the bill, so there's a fair bit to get through before the headliners even take the stage.

For Skindred, the London date doubles as their annual 'Night of the Living Dred' Halloween show, which they're billing as their biggest one yet. It's the same band and the same tour as the other dates, but the timing and the venue make this one a bit of a standalone event. If you've seen them before, you'll know the ragga metal thing is exactly what it sounds like — heavy riffs and reggae rhythms sitting side by side, with Webbe's vocals tying it together. It's a high-energy set that usually gets a good crowd moving, and with Alien Ant Farm and Spineshank on the bill, the night starts well before they come on.

Doors open at 18:30, and the night is for ages 16 and over. If you're planning on it, keep in mind it's Halloween night, so the trip up to North London might take a bit longer than usual.
