Screening of the fresh film adaptation of Jane Austen's novel, directed by Georgia Oakley and starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles, with a relaxed screening for neurodiverse audiences.
Sense and Sensibility is running at Barbican Cinema 1 from Friday 25 September to Thursday 29 October, a new take on Jane Austen's novel set in 1790s England. It's a British production, directed by Georgia Oakley and adapted for the screen by novelist Diana Reid, and it runs 2 hours and 12 minutes.
Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles star as the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne. The story kicks in when the Dashwood family loses its inheritance, and the two sisters have to find their place in the world while dealing with the attention of various suitors. Elinor is the cautious, conscientious one; Marianne is headstrong and passionate. It's described as a charming, witty, and deeply relatable story of love and sisterhood.
They've put together a strong supporting cast around them: George MacKay, Caitriona Balfe, Fiona Shaw, Frank Dillane, and Herbert Nordrum. The film is showing at Barbican Cinema 1, which is on Level -2 of the Barbican Centre on Silk Street, London EC2Y 8DS.
