Retro computing show with RockChip and Raspberry Pi systems, historic Acorn machines, a charity stand for Combat Stress and talks in a theatre.
The RISC OS London Show is back at the Harrow District Masonic Centre on Saturday 24 October, put on by ROUGOL, the RISC OS User Group of London. They're billing it as the biggest RISC OS event of the year, and it's easy to see why: it brings together the retro and the current in one room. You'll find the latest systems built around RockChip and Raspberry Pi alongside historic Acorn machines like the BBC Micro, Electron and Archimedes, all running the latest software and classic games. There's a separate theatre for talks throughout the day, and a charity stand collecting Acorn and RISC OS hardware and software to raise money for Combat Stress, a veterans' mental health charity.
To mark the 40th anniversary of the OS's release, there's a BBC Domesday system on display for everyone to play with and to look up their hometown as it was circa 1986. The exhibitors list is long: AMCOG games, Archive Magazine, Chris Hall, Drag'n'Drop, Dynabyte software, Orpheus Internet, R-Comp, RISC OS Bits, RISC OS Developments, RISC OS Open Ltd, Rougol, RPCEmu, Sine Nomine Software, Soft Rock Software, Steve Fryatt and ZFP Systems. RISC OS Developments is also running a 'mega demo' theatre talk.

It's described as one of the most exciting shows in years, with developers on hand to answer questions and several companies aiming to launch new products. If you've got an old Acorn machine gathering dust in the loft, the charity stand is a good excuse to clear some space for a cause. The show runs from 11am to 4pm, with entry at £7 on the door and under-16s free; card payments are accepted.
