Live show by the cult Nottingham band Panchiko, whose mysterious album 'D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L' became an internet phenomenon.
Panchiko play the Roundhouse on Saturday 24 October, their only London date this autumn. It's a headline show in the Main Space, with doors opening at 7pm.
If you've come across them recently, you might not know the odd story that put them on the map. Back in 2016, a mysterious demo CD titled D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L surfaced online, allegedly recorded back in 2000. It sparked a global treasure hunt among fans, who spent years trying to track down the people behind it. The sound was haunting and marked by 'disc-rot' — that warbling, degraded quality you get from an old CD left in the sun — and the mystery surrounding it only added to the draw. A decade later, the band has been fully rediscovered, the original members confirmed, and they're now on their fourth sold-out tour with hundreds of millions of streams worldwide.
They started out in Nottingham in the late 1990s as a group of schoolboys, and they've kept a fair bit of that myth intact. D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L eventually came out as an under-the-radar debut EP in 2020, shortly before they disbanded, and it was the subsequent rediscovery that turned it into a cult object. This show is part of the tour that's seen them return to the stage after all that.
