Weekly Sunday roast with 28-day aged sirloin of beef, roast half chicken or nut roast, roast potatoes, swede and carrot mash, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and gravy.
Mr Fogg's Roast runs every Sunday at Mr Fogg's Tavern in Covent Garden, from 12:00 until 6:30pm. It's a proper British roast, the kind of thing that works as a long, lazy Sunday lunch just as well as a late afternoon meal. The main event is a choice of three: 28-day aged sirloin of beef, roast half chicken, or a nut roast for when you're not in the mood for meat. Each comes with roast potatoes, swede and carrot mash, seasonal vegetables, a Yorkshire pudding, and gravy. Beyond the roast, there's a wider menu of comfort dishes and desserts to pick from.
The Tavern itself is a Victorian-style pub in the heart of theatre-land, on the corner of New Row and St. Martin's Lane. It's part of the Mr Fogg's Collection, a group of cocktail bars and taverns across Mayfair, Fitzrovia, Soho and The City that the brand describes as 'cocktail bars for the adventurous'. The pub's walls and ceilings are bedecked with an eccentric array of memorabilia collected by Mr Fogg himself, and legend has it the place was left by Mr Fogg's late Aunt Gertrude to her loyal housekeeper, Fanny McGee. If you're in the mood for something stronger than a pint, there's Mr Fogg's Gin Parlour sitting right above the Tavern, home to more than 200 gins from across the globe.
