Weekly Thursday Cockney singalong created by pianist Tom Carradine at the Victorian-style pub Mr Fogg's Tavern in Covent Garden.
Mr Fogg's Tavern in Covent Garden is running a Cockney Singalong, a regular night of community singing that's on the go through the end of the year and into 2027. It's a proper singalong, not a concert, so the whole point is to join in rather than just watch.
The night was started by pianist Tom Carradine, who's also one half of Champagne Charlie and the Bubbly Boys and a regular on the London cabaret circuit. He wanted to bring the atmosphere and the community singing of the Twinwood singalongs to London, so that's exactly what this is: a room full of people singing along to the piano. It's less about performing and more about getting stuck in with the crowd.
The venue itself fits the bill. Mr Fogg's Tavern is a Victorian-style pub on the corner of New Row and St Martin's Lane, right in the middle of theatre-land. The room tells the story of Fogg's late Aunt Gertrude, who left her home to her loyal housekeeper Fanny McGee, which was then turned into a haven for art lovers and theatre folk, with walls and ceilings bedecked in an eccentric array of memorabilia collected by Mr Fogg himself. Above the Tavern sits Mr Fogg's Gin Parlour, an intimate cocktail bar home to more than 200 gins from across the globe.
