Free members' family session in which evolutionary biologist Professor Ben Garrod leads children in building a model T. rex.
Ben Garrod is taking over the Natural History Museum on Saturday 28 November for Dinosaur Detectives, a family session for members. He's an evolutionary biologist, broadcaster and author, and he'll be leading a group of young explorers through a morning of dinosaur science. The whole thing is built around hands-on making, with the audience building a model T rex as they go.
The session draws on Garrod's latest book, Zombie Worms and Blue Dragons: Celebrating 100 Iconic Life Forms, which features illustrations by palaeoartist Emily Higgs. It's a family-friendly one, so it's as much for the kids as it is for the adults who can't resist a bit of prehistoric digging. If you've got little ones who spend their weekends talking about the Cretaceous, this is exactly their sort of thing.
