Evening of the Tate Britain retrospective of art, design, fashion and photography from the 1990s, curated by Edward Enniful.
Late at the Tate: The 90s takes over Tate Britain on Friday 13 November, starting at 18:30. It's an evening that brings together a wide spread of names from the decade: Juergen Teller, Corinne Day, Steve McQueen, Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and John Galliano. That's photography, art and fashion all in one room, and the list reads like a who's who of the era's most talked-about figures.
The night is part of Tate Britain's wider 1990s retrospective, a show curated by former Vogue editor Edward Enniful. He's pulled together art, design, fashion and photography from across the decade, and this particular evening is one of the moments that opens it up. The names on the bill cover a lot of ground: Teller and Day on the photography side, Hirst and Lucas from the YBA crowd, and Westwood, McQueen and Galliano from the fashion world. Seeing them together gives a decent sense of how those scenes overlapped back then.
