Hands-on exhibition with more than 200 real specimens of prehistoric marine reptiles, from ichthyosaurs and plesiosaurs to mosasaurs and marine crocodiles.
Jurassic Oceans: Monsters of the Deep is running at the Natural History Museum in South Kensington, open daily from 10:00 to 16:30. It's a hands-on trip back more than 245 million years to a time when dinosaurs held the land and marine reptiles ruled the waves. More than 200 real specimens bring those ancient seas to life, and you can actually touch them: a mosasaur tooth, shark skin, fossilised coprolites containing fish scales, and the bony armour of a marine crocodile. The museum's palaeontologists guide the way, and the whole thing is presented for a limited time with the support of the Huo Family Foundation.
The reptiles on display have long inspired monsters in popular culture. You'll find the ichthyosaur, the megalodon, the long-necked plesiosaur, the mosasaur, and the pterosaur Aerodactylus. If you've got more time, you can also explore the museum's free, permanent Fossil Marine Reptiles gallery. It's recommended for visitors aged 8 and up.
