Horror film screenings at the Rooftop Film Club in the Bussey Building, Peckham, featuring the cult classic 'Halloween'.
Rooftop Film Club is taking over The Bussey Building in Peckham for its Halloween season, and the main event lands on Thursday 22 October. They've turned the venue into a 'house of horrors' for the run, which they're billing as the culmination of the club's entire year. If you've been following them since the spring, this is the one they've been building towards.
The headline screening that night is the cult classic Halloween, the one that basically set the template for the slasher. It's not the only horror on the bill, though — Hocus Pocus and Practical Magic both show earlier in the day, so if you're in the mood for something a bit more family-friendly or just a bit softer before the main event, you can make a day of it. The whole thing runs from the afternoon through to the evening, with Halloween taking the late slot.
One detail that makes a difference when you're watching films outdoors in late October: they've got a woodburning stove on site to keep things warm. It's a rooftop screening, and by the time the sun goes down in Peckham, it'll be cold, so having a proper fire going rather than just relying on blankets is a welcome touch. It's the kind of thing that makes the difference between shivering through the credits and actually enjoying the night.
