Charity gig for Gaza headlined by Sleaford Mods, Baxter Dury, Joe Armon-Jones and Sinead Ashiokai at Troxy, with all proceeds donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians and Gaza Forever.
Gig For Gaza returns to Troxy on Saturday 24 October, the third instalment of a charity fundraiser series run by Crosstown Concerts and curated by Paul Weller. The line-up this time around brings together Sleaford Mods, Baxter Dury, Joe Armon-Jones and Sinead Ashiokai, four names that rarely share a bill. It's a night that pulls from a few different corners of the city's music scene: the sharp, spoken-word delivery of Sleaford Mods; the dry, droll wit of Baxter Dury; the jazz-inflected sound of Joe Armon-Jones; and the soulful, electronic leanings of Sinead Ashiokai. Seeing them all on one stage is a good reason to make the trip to East London.
There's a bit of history behind the night, too. This is the third edition of the series, and the first two brought in artists like Kneecap, Primal Scream and Inhaler, raising a total of £250,000 for the cause. All the proceeds from this one go to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) and Gaza Forever, two organisations that provide food, medical supplies and emergency shelter to people in Gaza. The night is billed as a combination of music and solidarity, so it's as much about where the money goes as it is about who's playing.

If you're planning to go, the practicals are straightforward. It's at Troxy in London on Saturday 24 October, with the first act taking the stage at 6:45pm. Tickets start from £5, so it's an easy one to drop into without spending much, and everything you pay goes to the charities. With a line-up that jumps from Sleaford Mods' grit to Joe Armon-Jones' jazz and Sinead Ashiokai's soul, it should be a long, varied night.
