French funk producer Dabeull brings his 70s-80s funk sound to life with a full analogue band at Troxy.
Dabeull plays Troxy on Thursday 5 November, with doors opening at 19:00. He's a French producer and artist who's become one of the leading figures in the global funk revival, and this is a full live band show rather than a DJ set.
His whole approach is built around a specific era: the 70s and 80s. He works with analogue gear, recording entirely on classic 70s synthesizers to get those punchy basslines, retro synth sounds and sensual vocals. The sound draws on the pop, funk and African music he grew up with, and he carries that 70s-80s movie-star aesthetic through to the stage. Live, the project expands into a full analogue band with period costumes and retro instrumentation, so the whole thing is as much about the look as the sound.
