Spooky, family-friendly guided tour of the Globe Theatre that brings to life the ghosts and spirits of Shakespeare's most chilling plays.
Shakespeare's Globe is running its Ghosts & Ghouls Family Tour from 17 October through to 30 January, a spooky guided tour of the theatre that brings to life the ghosts, spirits and scary happenings of Shakespeare's most chilling plays. It's a family-friendly one, so it's as much for the kids as it is for anyone who enjoys a bit of the macabre.
Over the course of about an hour, the tour works its way through the supernatural side of Shakespeare's work. You'll hear about the Three Witches' spells in Macbeth and the appearance of Hamlet's father's ghost, and it doesn't stop there. It looks at Shakespeare's general love of the supernatural, the grisly medical practices of his time, and the folktales of London's own mysterious creatures, like the Thames River Monster, alongside the traditional ways people used to protect themselves against evil spirits. It's all delivered in English and is suitable for all ages, though under-16s need to be accompanied by an adult.
One thing to keep in mind is that the tour takes you across multiple floors via four or eight flights of stairs. There is lift access to other floors, and limited level access to seats in the Middle and Upper galleries, though that's subject to operations on the day. If you're bringing someone with mobility needs, it's worth checking that in advance.

Tickets are £23 for adults and £18 for under-16s, and each ticket includes a £3 per-order transaction fee. That also gets you entry to the Globe's exhibition, so you can spend some extra time there before or after the tour. You'll find the theatre at 21 New Globe Walk, Bankside, London SE1 9DT.
