Guided walking tour of Soho that traces the district's rock and pop history, from the Rolling Stones and David Bowie to Jimi Hendrix and Prince.
A Music Walking Tour of Soho kicks off at the Dominion Theatre on Saturday 31 October, taking you through the streets of Soho to trace the district's music history. It's led by a local guide, so you're not just wandering on your own — you'll be following a route that connects some of the biggest names in rock and pop.
The tour focuses on the spots where the Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix left their mark. You'll see the venue where Hendrix played, the street where Bowie lived in a caravan, and the studio where the Stones recorded their first album. There's also the spot where Elton John worked as a tea boy, Soho Square, and the venue where Prince played two secret gigs. It's a good way to see the neighbourhood if you've always wondered where all those stories actually happened.
London's rock 'n' roll history goes back more than five decades, shaped by mods, rockers, punks and hippies. The city's heritage includes the homes and studios of Bowie, Hendrix, the Stones, the Beatles, Queen, Pink Floyd and the Clash, and this walk focuses on the Soho end of that. The whole thing finishes in a historic English pub that was a regular for music legends, so you can end the morning with a drink in a place that's seen its fair share of the scene.
