Physical theatre piece by Gecko, drawn on the lived experiences of its artistic director Amit Lahav, about families fleeing, arriving and beginning again.
Gecko bring Ķīn to Sadler's Wells East from Wednesday 20 to Saturday 23 January 2027. It's a physical theatre piece that runs one hour and twenty minutes without an interval, and it's recommended for ages 12 and over.
Ķīn is built from the lived experiences of the company's artistic director, Amit Lahav, and an international ensemble. It tells a story of families fleeing, arriving and beginning again, staged in Gecko's trademark physical style and carried by a global soundtrack and raw emotion. Critics have called it an enchanting sensory assault that leaves audiences moved by its intensity and beauty.
Sadler's Wells East sits in Stratford's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and is East London's powerhouse for dance, staging everything from hip hop to ballet, rave to rumba and kathak to krumping. The venue's atrium houses The In Breath and The Out Breath, a tapestry commission by Eva Rothschild with West Dean College Tapestry Studio, and it runs The Dance Floor, a free foyer space for classes and open sessions, alongside the Rose Choreographic School and the Academy Breakin' Convention.
