Screening of the music documentary 'Wolf' about Patrick Wolf, narrated by Tilda Swinton, followed by a ScreenTalk with director Christian Cargill and Patrick Wolf on Zoom.
Barbican Cinema 1 hosts Wolf on Thursday 22 October, part of the Doc'n Roll film festival. It's a 2026 UK documentary directed by Christian Cargill, running an hour and 28 minutes, and it's narrated by Tilda Swinton, a long-time friend of the musician at the centre of it: Patrick Wolf.
The film follows Wolf's life from his early days as a fiercely original teenage talent through the heights of his success, a painful unravelling, and his eventual return to music. It doesn't just rely on talking heads; it blends rich archival material with evocative animation to fill in the gaps. Swinton's narration carries the story through, and the whole thing is built around Wolf's career and the personal ups and downs that sat alongside it.
After the screening, there's a ScreenTalk with director Christian Cargill, and Patrick Wolf himself joins in via Zoom. It's a good chance to hear the two of them talk through the film and the story it tells.
