Free relaxed morning visit for neurodivergent children and families to explore the Natural History Museum before the general public, with adapted lighting, sound and activities.
Dawnosaurs is back at the Natural History Museum on Saturday 5 December, from 08:00 to 10:00. It's a free morning session for neurodivergent children and their families, including those with autism, ADHD, Tourette's, OCD and other sensory processing difficulties, who get to explore the Museum before the general public arrives. The galleries and activities are led by neurodivergent-aware facilitators, and the Museum opens outside its usual hours with lighting, sound and special effects adjusted to suit the needs of the attendees.
There are five Dawnosaurs events each year, each tied to a new theme, and the Dinosaurs gallery is always open during the session. It's not a diagnosis-based event, so no proof of neurodivergency is required, and siblings are welcome. The Museum also runs a sister event, Dino Snores, an overnight sleepover for children aged 7-11.
