World premiere screening of the British gothic romantic thriller 'City of Masks', a musical reimagining of The Phantom of the Opera, with a post-film Q&A.
City of Masks has its world premiere at Vue Cinema London - Piccadilly on Thursday 29 October, with doors opening at 3:00 pm and the screening running from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm. It's a British gothic romantic thriller that takes Gaston Leroux's 1910 novel The Phantom of the Opera and tells it from a contemporary female perspective. The story follows Eve, a gifted composer whose identity is hidden behind a mask.
It's a musical film, set inside a theatre building with a vibrant musical theatre soundtrack, and runs for two hours and thirty minutes. The premiere is presented by BUFF Studios as part of a Halloween programme, and the screening is followed by a Q&A moderated by BUFF artistic director Kelechi Ehenulo. The film opens in UK cinemas nationwide the next day, Friday 30 October.
Behind it is Starmist Films, the independent production company founded by lead actor Amanda Jiang and writer Enrico Tessarin, and this is their first feature. It was supported by the Pegasus Fund, with Dr Clare Anyiam-Osigwe BEM and Emmanuel Anyiam-Osigwe MBE joining as executive producers. The film is directed by Andrea M. Catinella and written by Enrico Tessarin, with Amanda Jiang playing Eve, Charlie Goddard as Christian, and Deano Bugatti Mitchison as Victor, alongside Kay Boggett, Madalina Belariu Ion, and Charlotte Jackson Coleman.
