Children's author and poet Michael Rosen reads a selection of his favourite stories for children aged 6 and over, followed by a book stall and signing.
Michael Rosen is back at The Old Vic on Saturday 19 December, reading a selection of his own favourites. It's a morning show, starting at 9.30am and running for about 45 minutes without an interval, so it's one you can get in and out of before the rest of your Saturday takes over.
If you're not familiar with him, Rosen is a children's author and poet, and this is a reading rather than a play — he'll be reading aloud from the books he loves. The show is aimed at children aged six and over, so it's a good one to bring the younger ones along to if they're old enough to sit through a half-hour of storytelling. It's a return to The Old Vic for him, too, so he's worked this room before.
There's a bit more to it than just the reading, though. After the performance, there's a book stall and a signing with Rosen himself, so you can pick up something to take home and get it signed while you're there. If you've got kids who've just started reading, it's a decent way to get them interested in books when they can see the author actually reading them aloud.

Tickets are £17.50 for adults and £9.50 for children. The Old Vic is at 103 The Cut, SE1 8NB, so it's right in the heart of the South Bank. With the 9.30am start, you'll be done and away by mid-morning, leaving the rest of your Saturday open.
