Foot-stomping musical about a Scottish ceilidh, directed by Sam Pinkleton, with 16 actor-musicians and audience dancing.
Ceilidh The Musical runs at Shoreditch Town Hall from 23 October to 13 November 2026, a few weeks of performances in East London. It's a theatre show built around one of Scotland's oldest traditions: the ceilidh, a gathering of songs, stories and dancing where everyone shares a dram or two along the way. The show follows that same spirit, told through floor dances and stories heard from the seat, with over two hours of reels, shared pints and razor-sharp wit as an intimate family story unfolds. And it's not just for watching — the audience is encouraged to join in the dancing.
Behind it is a company of 16 actor-musicians, directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton, who worked on Oh, Mary! and Rocky Horror on Broadway. The writing comes from the Scottish duo Scott Gilmour and Claire McKenzie. It arrives in London after Alan Cumming's inaugural season at Pitlochry Festival Theatre and a sold-out US run.
