Free exhibition by British-Bengali artist Mohammed Z Rahman of new paintings exploring home and love, staged in two pavilions at Tate Britain.
Mohammed Z Rahman is showing at Tate Britain from 5 June to 8 November 2026, as part of the Art Now series. It's a new body of paintings that continues his look at home and love, and it's staged in two timber pavilions inspired by Bengali wedding canopies. The whole thing is set up in two theatrical 'acts', each starting with a work from the Tate collection as an entry point.
Act One is built around home, play and joy, and opens with The Spaghetti House (2024), a painting based on a story Rahman made up with his six-year-old niece. Act Two takes its name from the tarot card and looks at the transformative power of love and connection. Between the two, the exhibition draws on love letters, songs, poems, recipes, dreams and memories.
Rahman is a British-Bengali artist based in London with a background in social anthropology. His work deals with migration, cultural hybridity, historical erasure, labour, queerness and class, all worked through a strong sense of colour and form. He's shown at the Venice Biennale, and this is a new set of paintings that keeps those themes going.
