Stand-up show by Alex Franklin about kissing, romance, dating and being trans.
Alex Franklin brings Kiss Me x to Soho Upstairs at the Soho Theatre from Monday 26 to Wednesday 28 October, with each show starting at 8.30pm. It's a stand-up hour that takes kissing, romance and dating and turns them into a playful set, while taking on the fetishisation and demonisation of trans bodies. Franklin describes it as a funny, unapologetically trans show about love, attraction and being seen.
That's the core of it: the everyday stuff of dating and romance, but looked at through a trans lens. The title Kiss Me x points to the romantic side of things, and the show works its way through the lighter, more playful side of love and attraction alongside the heavier, more complicated ways trans bodies are often talked about and treated. It's stand-up, so the whole thing is built around the punchline, and Franklin keeps it funny even when the subject matter gets a bit more serious.
