Family concert in which the Liverpool Philharmonic accompanies a screening of 'The Snowman' and then plays Christmas hits for a children's party.
The Snowman comes to Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on Hope Street this December, with three performances over the weekend of the 19th. It's a family concert built around the film we all know, and it's split into two distinct halves.
The first part is the film itself: a live screening of The Snowman on stage, with the orchestra playing along to the score. After that, the mood shifts into a Christmas party where the orchestra plays a selection of festive hits and presenter Maddie Moate leads the room in singing, dancing, and giggling. It's designed as a shared experience rather than a sit-still concert, so the second half is as much about the room joining in as it is about the music.
On the podium is conductor George Morton, and the Liverpool Philharmonic Children's Choir joins in, so there's a good bit of local talent on the bill. The whole thing is aimed at children aged 5 to 10, though it's a family affair. If you're bringing the very little ones, tickets are free for children under 18 months when booked in advance.
