Two-hour hands-on sushi making class for two at YO! Sushi School, with a glass of Prosecco, beer or soft drink and a completion certificate.
YO! Sushi School is running its sushi making class in Liverpool on Wednesday 21 October, and it's set up for two people to go together. The whole thing takes around two hours, led by experienced professionals who walk you through the history of sushi, the fresh ingredients involved, and the knife skills you'll need before you actually start rolling your own handmade sushi. It's a proper introduction rather than just a quick demo, so you'll come away knowing a bit about what goes into the rolls you usually just order from a menu.
The menu you work with covers a fair spread of the classics. You'll make salmon sashimi and nigiri, crunchy Cali rolls, cucumber maki, and yasai hand rolls, along with edamame and gyoza. Between the different styles, you'll get a feel for the different ways sushi is put together—from the simple slices of fish on rice to the rolled-and-sliced maki and the hand-wrapped rolls.
It's not just about the food, either. Each session includes a glass of Prosecco, beer, or a soft drink, and all the equipment you need is provided, so you don't have to bring a thing. You'll also get a completion certificate to take home when you're done. One of the better bits is that it's open to mixed-age groups from the age of five upwards, which makes it an easy one to do with kids if that's your crowd.
