Live show by NewHvn, a project from Ireland mixing post-rock, shoegaze and grunge, with support from the Bristol quartet HAAL.
NewHvn play The Quarry on Tuesday 20 October, with the Bristol industrial and trip-hop quartet HAAL on support. The night is presented by No Play & WYRM, and it starts at 7:00pm at 45 Hardman Street, L1 9AS.
NewHvn is a relatively new name, having emerged in 2026 from the middle of nowhere in Ireland. The project grew out of the remains of a post-rock instrumental band, and that background still runs through it. They describe their sound as a blend of rock, alternative rock and grunge, and they're not shy about the influences that pull it together: post-rock roots, shoegaze and post-hardcore. It's a genre-defying mix, and since they've come from an instrumental start, the focus stays on the textures and the weight of the sound rather than just a singer at the front.
Opening the bill is HAAL, a quartet from Bristol working in industrial and trip-hop. Between them and NewHvn, the night leans heavily into the louder, more atmospheric end of the spectrum, with HAAL's industrial leanings sitting alongside NewHvn's grunge and post-rock. It's a double bill that stays firmly in that heavier, textured territory.
