Japanese experimental rock quartet OOIOO, fronted by YoshimiO of Boredoms, plays Quarry in Liverpool, presented by Outer Waves Festival.
OOIOO play Quarry on Wednesday 4 November, their first Liverpool date in nearly a decade. It's the first of only two UK shows, so if you're in the city and fancy a night of Japanese experimental rock, this is the one to keep on your radar.
OOIOO is a quartet fronted by YoshimiO, who you might know from Boredoms and Free Kitten. The band's sound sits in that experimental rock territory, and having them back on these shores after such a long gap makes the Liverpool date feel like a proper occasion rather than just another tour stop. The night is presented by Outer Waves Festival, and they've picked a room with a 250-capacity, so it's a relatively small space for a band with this kind of pedigree.
Knowing YoshimiO's work with Boredoms, you can expect something that leans into the experimental side of things. The Liverpool show is billed as the first of only two UK dates, so it's one of the few chances to catch them live this side of the ocean.
