Talk in which former Liverpool FC players John Barnes, Phil Thompson and John Aldridge share stories and anecdotes from their careers.
Liverpool Legends comes to the Liverpool Empire Theatre on Friday 8 January 2027, with former Liverpool FC players John Barnes, Phil Thompson and John Aldridge taking the stage together. It's a talk rather than a match, so the evening is built around the three of them sharing stories and anecdotes from their careers.
They'll be talking through memorable matches and the behind-the-scenes stuff that doesn't usually make it into the reports — the fall-outs and the transfers, as well as the more celebratory side of things. It's a good way to get a feel for the history of the club and some of its most iconic players, and they'll be talking about more than just their own time in the red shirt. Ian Rush MBE, the club's record goal scorer who spearheaded The Reds to 17 trophies, is one of the names that comes up.
Between them, Barnes, Thompson and Aldridge cover different eras and positions, so the stories should pull from a fair few different corners of the club's history. If you've followed the club for years, it's a chance to hear some of the well-known tales told by the men who were actually there; if you're newer to it, it's a decent introduction to some of the names and moments that still get talked about around the city.

The talk starts at 19:30 at the Liverpool Empire Theatre, in the heart of the city. It's a Friday night in January, so it's one of those early-year dates to keep in mind if you're planning your football-related outings for the season.
