UK & Ireland tour of the musical Grease, a dramatic reimagining of the 1972 show about high school romance.
Grease opens at the Liverpool Empire Theatre on Monday 26 July 2027, with the production running through to 31 July. It's part of a brand-new UK and Ireland tour, and the opening night starts at 19:30.
Most of us know the story: Sandy and Danny meet at Rydell High, and the rest is the high school drama and 50s nostalgia that's made the show a household name. This production is billed as a dramatic reimagining of the original, with a contemporary sensibility that looks a bit closer at the characters and what they're going through. It's the same story you're expecting, just told from a slightly different angle.
Behind it are the names that started it all: book and music by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. This version is directed by Nikolai Foster and choreographed by Arlene Phillips, so the dancing should be a good part of the evening. The show runs about two hours and 30 minutes with an interval, and it's recommended for ages 7 and over.

For a bit of context, the original Grease musical premiered on Broadway in 1972 and picked up seven Tony nominations. It really entered the public consciousness six years later with the film adaptation starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, which is where most of the songs and the look of the show come from. This tour brings it back to the stage, with tickets starting from £15.
