The hit musical Mamma Mia!, with songs from ABBA, comes to the Liverpool Empire Theatre.
Mamma Mia! opens at the Liverpool Empire on Tuesday 8 December, running through to Sunday 3 January 2027. It's the musical built around the songs of ABBA, and this is its latest stop on the UK tour.
The story follows Sophie, who wants her father to walk her down the aisle but has no idea who he is. To find out, she tracks down three of her mother Donna's past lovers β Harry, Sam and Bill β and invites them all to the wedding. It's set on a sun-drenched Greek island, and the songs are the ones you know: 'Dancing Queen', 'Super Trouper' and 'Take A Chance On Me' are among the hits the show leans on.
Catherine Johnson wrote the book, with music by Benny Andersson and BjΓΆrn Ulvaeus of ABBA. Phyllida Lloyd directed it, and Judy Craymer produced it β and Craymer spent ten years persuading the ABBA duo to agree to the project. Anthony Van Laast did the choreography. Since its London premiere, the show has been seen by more than 70 million fans worldwide.
