Friday in the Cavern Pub

The Cavern Pub has five resident bands playing through the evening on Friday 30 October, part of its regular run of free live music on Mathew Street. The pub is the third venue in the Cavern family, sitting directly opposite the Cavern Club, with its walls lined with Cavern Club and rock memorabilia celebrating the artists and moments that helped shape popular music history. It's open seven days a week from midday and stages free live performances every evening by some of the best musicians in Liverpool, working through decades of music from The Beatles to Oasis, Led Zeppelin to Stevie Wonder, with the energy that defines the city's legendary live scene.

The wider Cavern Club bills itself as 'the most famous club in the world', with resident Beatle band The Cavern Club Beatles covering all eras of the Fab Four's music in the Live Lounge and 'The Monday Club' open-mic night for original artists hosted by local musician Ian Prowse. The Pub sits right in the middle of that, keeping the music going on the street.

On this particular Friday, the live music kicks off at 3pm and runs right through until the early hours. Richard Batty opens from 3pm to 4:45pm, followed by Brendan O'Rourke from 5pm to 6:45pm. Tony Skeggs takes over from 7pm to 8:45pm, and Jonny Parry plays from 9pm to 10:45pm. The night finishes with Jay Murray, who goes from 11pm to 1:45am. That's five sets in a row, so you can drop in for one or stay for the whole run.

Admission is free, and the pub opens at midday, so you can get there well before the music starts if you're planning a full afternoon and evening of it. The live sets start at 3pm, and the last one carries on until 1:45am.
