A day of steeplechase racing and entertainment around the William Hill Becher Handicap Steeple Chase at Aintree Racecourse.
Becher Chase Day returns to Aintree Racecourse on Saturday 5 December, with the William Hill Becher Handicap Steeple Chase as the main event. It's one of Aintree's big winter tests, run over the course's famous Grand National fences, and it has a habit of producing Grand National winners — Vieux Lion Rouge, Walk In The Mill and Amberleigh House all went through here first.
The race has a bit of recent history to it, too. It returned to a £100,000 prize fund for the first time since 2023, and that was the year jockey Lucy Turner made history as the first female rider to win the Becher Chase, sending Chambard to a 13-length victory. It's a day built around that one race, so if you're into the jumping side of things, this is the one to keep an eye on.
If you're bringing the family, there are a couple of things that make it easier on the wallet. Under-18s race free at the majority of Jockey Club racedays, and 18-24s can get half-price tickets through RacePass, so it's a decent shout for a day out with younger ones in tow.
