National Hunt day at Aintree Racecourse with a full card of hurdles and chase races, headlined by the Grand Sefton Steeple Chase.
Grand Sefton Day is back at Aintree Racecourse on Saturday 7 November, one of the big autumn dates on the course's National Hunt calendar. Aintree is, of course, the home of the Grand National, and this is one of the premier fixtures it hosts during the season. The whole day builds towards the Grand Sefton Steeple Chase, with a full card of hurdles and chase races leading up to it. You'll see seasoned jump winners alongside rising talent, all running at one of the UK's most historic racecourses.
It's not just for the racing crowd, either. The day draws a lively mix of people, and there are a few ways to do it: general admission, grandstand seating, and hospitality packages, with on-site catering and bars to keep you going throughout. If you're not one for the grandstand, the general admission gets you in for the day, and the bars and food are right there on the grounds.
If you fancy making a day of it, the surrounding area has plenty to see. Nearby Sefton Park is a 235-acre Liverpool park with its own set of curiosities: the caves and waterfalls known as 'Old Nick's caves', the Fairy Glen, and an Aviary. The park's bandstand is even said to have inspired The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, so there's a bit of music history tucked away not far from the track.
