One-night Victorian Christmas workshop to create a holiday keepsake inspired by the artistry of First Lady Caroline Scott Harrison.
The Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site is hosting a Victorian Ornament Workshop on Saturday, November 28, 2026. It's a one-night-only event, so if you want to do it, this is your only shot this season. The workshop is part of the site's holiday programming, and the whole idea is to step into the magic of a Victorian Christmas.
During the session, you'll make a one-of-a-kind holiday keepsake inspired by the artistry of First Lady Caroline Scott Harrison. The site is a National Historic Landmark dedicated to preserving the home, collections, and grounds of the 23rd U.S. President—the only one ever elected from Indiana—and it exhibits the Victorian era as Harrison and his family actually lived it. The workshop fits right into that: you're working in a space that's still tied to the era the ornament is meant to evoke.
For a bit of context on the man himself, Benjamin Harrison was a lawyer-president, a founding member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, and the first president of the Indiana State Bar Association. He was also a Civil War general and a leader who addressed immigration and helped usher in the Progressive Era. The site's broader mission is to increase public understanding of American self-government through the life, arts, and culture of a president, and this workshop is one of the ways they bring that into the community.
