Interactive, participatory experience exploring connection through art, music, interfaith dialogue and shared food, part of the Spirit & Place Festival.
The Village We Make arrives at Herron-Riverside High School on Sunday, November 15, from 2 PM to 4 PM, with doors opening at 1:45 PM. It's an interactive, participatory experience presented by WFYI as part of the Spirit & Place Festival, which runs from November 5 to 15. The whole thing is built around the festival's theme of connection, and it's designed to guide you through immersive activities exploring belonging through art, music, interfaith dialogue, and shared food.
Rather than a traditional show or exhibition, it's meant to be a journey. The organizers describe it as a way to discover your 'villagers' — the people who strengthen our sense of community and remind us that we don't have to navigate life alone — and to explore how to build bridges across differences. You're not just watching; you're part of it, moving through the different elements together.
It's a broad collaboration, brought together by WFYI along with the Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center, the Greater Indianapolis Multifaith Alliance, Herron Classical School, and Beth-El Zedeck. That mix of neighborhood work, interfaith outreach, and local schools explains why the experience pulls from so many different places at once — art, music, conversation, and food all sitting in the same room.
