Free screening of Mel Brooks' 'Young Frankenstein' at the Clowes Auditorium Theater in the Indianapolis Public Library's monthly Indy Cinema Series.
The Indy Cinema Series is screening Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein at the Clowes Auditorium Theater in the Central Library on Tuesday, October 27, from 6 PM to 8 PM. It's part of the library's free monthly film series, which brings contemporary and classic cinema to the big screen for adults 17 and up. A new title rolls in each month, and you don't need to register to attend—you just show up.
This month's pick is Young Frankenstein, Brooks' 1974 comedy that plays with the original Mary Shelley story. It's a classic for a reason, and seeing it in a theater is a different experience than catching it on a small screen at home. The screening runs two hours, so it's a full evening of movie.
The venue is the Clowes Auditorium Theater, located inside the Central Library at 40 East Saint Clair Street. The library itself is a bit of a landmark in the city: the original 1917 building was designed by Paul Cret and built from Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, and it was once considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. The theater sits within that complex, which also includes a six-story glass and steel-framed addition designed by Evans Woollen that opened in 2007. It's the hub of the city's library system, right in the heart of downtown.
