Free screening of 'The Long Goodbye' at the Clowes Auditorium Theater in the Central Library, with a live musical performance, for adults 17 and up.
The Indy Cinema Series is screening The Long Goodbye at the Central Library on Tuesday, November 10. It's part of a monthly series the library puts on for adults 17 and up, and this time the feature is The Long Goodbye.
There's a specific format to these screenings: each film is paired with a live musical performance, so you get the movie and a live set in one evening. The series alternates between contemporary and classic cinema, and it's designed as a drop-in affair—no registration required, just show up when you're ready.
The screening takes place in the Clowes Auditorium Theater inside the Central Library, the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system. The library's original 1917 building was designed by Paul Cret and built of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, and it's considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the United States. A six-story glass and steel-framed addition by Evans Woollen opened in 2007, so the theater sits within a space that blends that original limestone with a more modern expansion.
