Interactive mystery for teens in which they explore a crime scene, examine suspects and clues and solve the case, with pizza afterwards.
The Pharaoh's Curse is coming to the Spades Park Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Saturday, November 7, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. It's an interactive mystery designed for teens, and it runs after the library's normal hours, so you'll have the place to yourself while you work the case.
The format is hands-on: you explore the scene of the crime, size up the suspects, and pore over the notes left behind to figure out who's responsible. Once the mystery is solved, there's pizza for everyone. It's the kind of thing that works better in a group, so it's a good one to bring a few friends along for.
The venue itself has a bit of history. The Spades Park Branch, at 1801 Nowland Avenue, was built with a $120,000 grant from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation and opened in 1912—six months after the city's other remaining Carnegie library, the East Washington Branch. The 7,500-square-foot building went through a $610,000 renovation in 1987 and celebrated its centenary in 2012.
