Interactive murder mystery for teens in which library staff play characters and attendees act as detectives to solve a fictional crime.
Teen Murder Mystery Night takes over the Indianapolis Public Library on Friday, October 30, from 6 PM to 8 PM. It's part of the library's after-hours programming, and this one is for teens only. The setup is a classic whodunit: a librarian is found dead during a comic festival, and you step in as a detective to figure out who did it. The suspect list is made up of characters played by IndyPL staff, so you'll be questioning the people who usually run the place.
The night happens at the Glendale Branch, located at 3660 East 62nd Street in the Broad Ripple community. That branch has a bit of a story to it. It opened in 2000 inside Glendale Mall, making it the first full-service library in the country to be located inside a major shopping mall. In 2024, it moved into a new 24,800-square-foot space at the site of the former John Strange Elementary School, so the mystery takes place in a building that used to be a school.
