Teen woodworking workshop in which participants learn basic skills to build a functional planter box, with all materials and tools provided.
Deeply Ingrained is teaming up with the Indianapolis Public Library for a teen woodworking workshop, Teen Build It, on Saturday, October 24, at the College Avenue Branch. It runs from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM, and it's aimed at teenagers who want to get their hands on some actual tools.
The whole point of the session is to walk away with something you can actually use. You'll spend the afternoon learning basic woodworking skills and use them to build a functional planter box from scratch. It's a good way to get a feel for how things come together—measuring, cutting, assembling—and you leave with a finished project for your porch or windowsill rather than just a few hours of watching someone else do it.
One of the best parts is that you don't need to bring a thing. All the materials, tools, and equipment are provided on-site, so you don't have to worry about owning a saw or a hammer to get started. The only thing they recommend is wearing closed-toe shoes, which makes sense when you're working with wood and tools.
