Afternoon of story time and a Minecraft club for children ages 7 and up to mine and build on the library's laptops and iPads.
The Central Library is hosting another session of its Minecraft Club on Monday, November 23, from 5 PM to 7 PM. It's part of the Indianapolis Public Library's Kid Central programming, and it's open to children ages 7 and up. The premise is pretty straightforward: kids get to mine, build, and hang out with other Minecrafters using the library's laptops or iPads. They can jump into a premade world or start one entirely from scratch, so it works whether they've got a specific project in mind or just want to see what happens when they start digging.
If your kid is under 12, they'll need to bring an adult along. No registration is required, so you can just show up. The club runs on the third floor of the Central Library, which is the hub of the whole Indianapolis Public Library system. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and built of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, is widely considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the country. A six-story glass and steel-framed addition by Evans Woollen opened in 2007, so the library is a mix of that classic limestone and a more modern wing.
