Beginner-friendly Qigong, standing flowing movements and meditation session facilitated by Indy Community Yoga, open to all ages.
Indy Community Yoga is bringing a Qi Gong and meditation session to Pike Branch on Monday, December 28, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. It's a free program open to all ages, and you don't need any prior experience to join in.
The session is led by Sarah and Courtney of Indy Community Yoga, a worker-run nonprofit cooperative that focuses on accessible movement, silent meditation, and mindful dialogue practices. They describe their work as 100% free for 100% of people, and this class fits right into that mission. It's built for beginners, so if you've never heard of Qi Gong or tried meditation before, you're exactly who they have in mind.
Here's how the hour breaks down: it starts with Qi Gong, which consists of standing, flowing movements set to music. Those movements are designed to work for a broad range of abilities, so you can move in a way that feels right for your body. After that comes the meditation, which you can take sitting on the floor, in a chair, or lying down—whatever is most comfortable for you. The session wraps up with a sharing time, where you can talk about the experience with the other people in the room.
