Educational session led by certified SHIP counselors on Medicare basics, costs and coverage for seniors and adults.
Medicare Basics: A Brief Look at the Parts of Medicare, Costs and Coverage comes to the East 38th Street Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Tuesday, November 17, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. It's an educational session designed to walk you through the fundamentals of Medicareโthe different parts, what they cover, and what you'll end up paying.
The session is led by certified State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) counselors, who provide free, impartial information with no sales pitch. That's the key part here: they aren't selling plans or pushing specific providers. SHIP is a free and impartial counseling program for people with Medicare, run by the Administration for Community Living and the Indiana Department of Insurance. If you've ever felt like you were being steered toward a particular plan by someone with a commission on the line, this is the opposite of that.
The class is aimed at seniors and adults looking for health and financial literacy information. If you're approaching Medicare age, helping a parent navigate their options, or just trying to make sense of the paperwork you've already received, it's a good place to get the basics straight without the noise. You'll get a look at the different parts of Medicare, how they fit together, and what the costs look like, all in a single hour.
