Marvelous Magnetic Bookmarks

Marvelous Magnetic Bookmarks is coming to the Garfield Park Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Wednesday, November 4, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. It's a hands-on session for school-age children ages 6 to 12, and the whole hour is built around designing and making custom magnetic bookmarks.

It's not just about the craft, though. The session walks kids through several different art techniques as they work on their designs, so they'll be experimenting with a few ways to decorate while they build. Along the way, they'll also find out how magnets actually work, which turns the project into a piece of functional art they can use and enjoy every day. It's one of those activities where the thing they make is something they'll actually keep in their books rather than just leave on a shelf.

If you're planning to bring your kids, there's one detail to keep in mind: registration opens on the day of the event, Wednesday, November 4, at 11:00 AM. Since it's a hands-on session, you'll want to grab a spot as soon as that window opens. The workshop runs from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM at the Garfield Park Branch, 2502 Shelby Street, Indianapolis, IN 46203.
